Inspiration

The Mervane Pendant Light takes its shape from coil-built pottery, where a pot is raised by stacking rolled ropes of clay one on top of the next. Most potters smooth those coils away; leaving them is what gives this shade its three swelling rings and its slight lean off centre. A turned bead sits at the top where the cord meets the stone, closing the line rather than hiding the joint. The shape reads as wabi-sabi, Japandi, or organic modern over a kitchen island, a nightstand, or a dining table.

Key Features

Coiled Travertine Shade
Off-white travertine cut into three stacked rings, 15cm/5.9″ across, with the stone's open pitting across every coil.
Solid Wood Bead Joint
A turned wood bead caps the shade where the cord enters, breaking up the drop instead of a bare socket cover.
One, Two, or Three Drops
A single pendant, or two and three heads on a solid wood linear canopy, each cord shortened at installation.

FAQ

What sizes does it come in?
Every shade is Ø 15cm/5.9″ × H 16cm/6.3″. Choose a single head with a Ø 9cm/3.5″ canopy, two heads on an L 60cm/23.6″ wood canopy, or three heads on an L 80cm/31.5″ one.
Can the hanging height be adjusted?
Yes. The single head runs 120–200cm/47–79″, and the two- and three-head versions come with 170cm/66.9″ cords that shorten at installation, so the drops can be set level or staggered.
What bulb does it take?
A standard E26 or E27 screw base — one per shade, so one, two, or three depending on the version.
What is the pendant made of?
An off-white travertine shade with a solid wood bead at the cord. The multi-head canopy is solid wood; the single-head canopy is aluminium with a PVC cover.

No. 02 — The Material

A stone that took two thousand years to arrive.

Travertine forms over millennia as mineral-rich spring water layers into solid stone. No two sections look alike — each piece carries its own trace of pores, veins, and color drift. The irregularities you see aren't imperfections. They're the stone's fingerprint.

No. 03

Four reasons
travertine feels different.

A growing number of US homes are swapping cold metal and glossy finishes for materials with real presence. Here's what makes this stone hold up to that shift — and why it holds up in a room.

01 / 04

One-of-a-kind texture

Every piece carries its own pattern of pores, veins, and soft color shifts. Shaped over millennia — not printed, not stamped. The lamp on your table is, by nature, unique.

02 / 04

Warm, lived-in tones

Natural cream, sand, and honey hues that read warm in any light — from morning sun to the last lamp-lit hour of the evening. The color the stone brings to the room doesn't read dated five years later.

03 / 04

Real stone, real weight

You feel it the moment you pick one up. Solid in the hand, grounded on the table. Nothing hollow, nothing plastic trying to imitate the surface of something it isn't.

Built to age well

Travertine softens beautifully with time. A lamp today, a piece that looks even better in ten years. The kind of purchase that earns its price instead of dating itself.

No. 04 — On Craft

"Every lamp is cut from a single block of natural travertine, then hand-finished until the surface is smooth to the touch but still honest about what it is — real stone, not composite, not resin."

No. 05 — Placement

Where travertine lighting belongs.

Each room has a spot that changes when a piece of stone lands in it. Three placements we keep seeing work.

No. 06 — Film Reel — Stone & Light

See how the stone
warms the light.

A diffused, honey-toned glow — softened once by the shade, and again by the stone around it.
