Inspiration

The Selene Gourd Alabaster Wall Sconce is a hardwired wall sconce built around a vertical brass rod that strings together four graduated alabaster spheres and tops them with a single alabaster globe shade housing an E14 bulb. The alabaster balls increase in size from top to bottom, giving the column a weighted, grounded silhouette — each stone sphere shows its own natural veining in cream and warm grey. The rod, wall plate, and connectors are all brass in a satin or brushed finish. At W 5.5″ × H 22.8″ (14 × 58 cm), it has a narrow footprint but enough vertical presence to read clearly on a bedroom wall, hallway, or either side of a bathroom mirror. The alabaster globe shade at the top diffuses the E14 bulb with a natural stone translucency. A natural stone and brass combination that fits a mid-century modern bedroom, Art Deco-influenced hallway, or transitional primary bathroom where you want a sconce with material texture rather than a plain metal arm. Hardwired; professional installation recommended.

Good To Know
!
Brass + alabaster spheres + alabaster globe · 1 × E14 · W 5.5″ × H 22.8″ · hardwired · indoor only Socket is E14 small Edison screw (European candelabra base). Standard US E12 candelabra bulbs do not fit E14 — use E14 bulbs only; these are widely available at US lighting and hardware retailers. The four alabaster spheres are natural stone — grain pattern and vein distribution will vary between pieces. The alabaster globe at the top is a separate shade that sits over the E14 socket. Hardwired to a wall junction box; professional installation is recommended. Indoor use only.
Key Features
Four Graduated Alabaster Spheres
Four natural alabaster balls increase in size from top to bottom along the brass rod. Each sphere shows its own cream and warm-grey veining — no two pieces are identical.
Alabaster Globe Shade
An alabaster globe shade sits over the E14 socket at the top, diffusing the bulb with a natural stone translucency. Light output is soft and omnidirectional.
Brass Rod & Wall Plate
Vertical brass rod connects the stone spheres and terminates at a round brass wall plate. All metal components — rod, connectors, plate — are brass in a consistent satin finish.
Size & Fit

One size: W 14 cm × H 58 cm (W 5.5″ × H 22.8″). The narrow width and tall vertical profile work well in spaces where horizontal clearance is limited — hallways, either side of a bathroom mirror, or flanking a headboard. Hang it so the center of the fixture sits at roughly 60–65″ from the floor for typical eye-level ambient use, or higher on either side of a mirror.

!
E14 socket · US E12 bulbs do not fit · natural alabaster · hardwired · indoor only This sconce uses an E14 small Edison screw base — the slightly larger European candelabra standard. Standard US E12 candelabra bulbs will not thread in. E14 bulbs are available at most US lighting retailers and online. Natural alabaster stone — each sphere will show variation in veining and tone; this is expected, not a defect. Hardwired to a wall junction box; professional installation is recommended.

FAQ
What bulb does it take, and can I use a standard US bulb?
The socket is E14 small Edison screw — the European candelabra base, which is slightly larger than the US E12. Standard US E12 candelabra bulbs will not fit. You need an E14 bulb — these are widely available at US lighting retailers and online. Choose your own wattage and color temperature within the fixture rating. Bulb is not included.
Will the alabaster spheres look exactly like the product photo?
Natural alabaster varies in veining, tone, and translucency from piece to piece. The spheres on your fixture will be in the same cream and warm-grey palette shown, but the exact pattern of veins will differ. This is a characteristic of natural stone, not a defect.
Is it hardwired or plug-in?
It is hardwired to a wall junction box and operated via your wall switch. There is no plug-in cord option. Professional installation by a licensed electrician is recommended.
Can I install two side by side as a pair?
Yes — the narrow 5.5″ width and vertical profile make it well suited for installation in pairs, such as flanking a bathroom mirror or on either side of a headboard. Each sconce hardwires independently to its own wall junction box.
How do I clean the alabaster and brass?
Dust the alabaster spheres with a soft dry cloth only — do not use water, oils, or cleaning sprays on the stone. Wipe the brass components with a soft dry cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners that could scratch the finish.

The Craft

From a block of stone
to light in your room.

Alabaster can't be moulded or mass-pressed — it is cut. Every shade starts as solid stone and is worked by hand until it's thin enough to glow evenly. That's why no two are the same.

01

Quarried

Blocks of natural alabaster are extracted and graded for translucency and the quality of their veining before any cutting begins.

02

Cut & shaped

Each block is sliced and turned or carved to form, then hollowed so a bulb can sit behind the stone wall.

03

Hand-finished

The walls are sanded to an even thickness so light passes through without dark patches, then polished by hand.

04

Wired & assembled

Fitted with brass hardware and wired to a 120V, ETL-compliant build, then inspected before it ships.

Why Alabaster

What makes it read as something rarer.

Translucent, not opaque

Light passes through the stone itself — the lit-from-inside quality you can't get from glass or acrylic.

Veining unique to your piece

Cut from a solid block, so the cloud-like veining is its own. No two alabaster fixtures are identical.

Warm and glare-free

The stone scatters light rather than aiming it. Pair with a 2700K bulb; most fixtures dim on a compatible LED dimmer.

Made for layered rooms

A soft accent beside stronger overhead light — at home with wood, linen, and brass in modern interiors.

Lit From Within

It doesn't light the room.
It becomes the light.

Switched off, an alabaster fixture is a quiet stone object. Switched on, the whole piece glows — sculpture you happen to be able to turn on.

The Collection

Chandeliers, pendants, sconces, table and floor lamps — all cut from natural alabaster, most paired with brass. Dozens of pieces in all.

Find My Size

Which alabaster light
for which room.

Dining & Island

Hang a linear pendant or chandelier roughly 30–36″ above the surface. For a 6–8′ island, size the fixture or cluster to about two-thirds the counter length.

Foyer & Stairwell

Two-story spaces suit a tiered chandelier — Corbett or Miira. Keep the lowest point at least 7′ off the floor in a walkway.

Bedside & Hallway

A wall sconce — Ando, Marmo, Velora — frees the nightstand and adds the soft accent layer. Plug-in versions skip the hardwiring.

Living Room & Den

A table lamp — Marie, Pico — anchors a reading corner with warm light beside your overheads.

Questions

Alabaster lighting, answered.

Is alabaster lighting durable, or does the stone chip easily?

Alabaster is a solid, fine-grained stone with real weight — not fragile in normal use. It is softer than marble, so avoid knocks and harsh chemical cleaners. A soft, dry cloth keeps it looking right for years.

Will my alabaster fixture look exactly like the photo?

No — and that's by design. Each shade is cut from natural stone, so the veining and tone are unique to your piece. The product photo shows a representative example; yours will have its own distinct veining.

What bulb and colour temperature work best with alabaster?

Use a 2700K warm-white LED to bring out the honeyed, candle-like tone in the stone. Cooler bulbs make alabaster look gray. Most fixtures take an E26 or G9 base — check the product page — and dim with a compatible LED dimmer.

Which alabaster fixture should I choose for my room size?

Chandeliers (Corbett, Kurve, Miira) suit dining rooms and two-story foyers; pendants suit kitchen islands; sconces suit bedsides and hallways. Send us your dimensions for a free 3D preview to scale before you order.
