Inspiration

The Caliora Alabaster Wall Sconce is a cone-shade wall light — a hand-carved natural alabaster cone, tilted downward, held by a brass arm with a brass ball detail on a round brass backplate. The E14 bulb inside throws a directional glow down while the alabaster catches the warm light and shows its veining. One size, W 9.1″ × H 7.9″. For a bedside, hallway, reading nook, vanity mirror, or entryway, it suits mid-century, Art Deco, transitional, quiet-luxury, and Mediterranean rooms.

Good To Know
!
1 × E14 socket · E14 LED bulb included & replaceable · alabaster cone · brass mount · hardwired · powder room OK (no shower) · indoor dry only The cone is real natural alabaster, hand-carved — veining and tone vary piece to piece; alabaster is porous and not damp-rated, so keep it to dry rooms and never clean it with water. The arm, ball, and round backplate are brass. Socket is E14 (a small Edison screw base); an E14 LED bulb is included and replaceable, warm 2700–3000K. Note for US buyers: E14 is the European small screw base and is not the same as the US E12 candelabra base — buy E14 replacements (widely available online), don't substitute E12. Hardwired to a standard wall junction box; licensed electrician recommended. Indoor dry locations only — powder rooms (no shower) and dry-zone vanity mirrors are OK; full bathrooms with shower steam and outdoor are not. Dust the alabaster with a dry cloth; wipe the brass with a dry soft cloth.

Veining and tone vary piece to piece — the character of the stone, not a defect.

Use Case

The Caliora reads as a tilted cone of stone — because the shade angles down, it aims a directional warm glow toward the surface below while the alabaster shows its veining. That makes it useful as a bedside or reading accent, not just decoration.

Mount it flanking a bed or mirror in pairs, single in a hallway, reading nook, entryway, or stairway, or as an accent-wall light. At a vanity, mount the center about 60–66″ above the floor; beside a bed, set it at a comfortable height for the headboard. The alabaster-and-brass pairing suits mid-century, Art Deco, transitional, quiet-luxury, and Mediterranean rooms, alongside wood, marble, and warm-metal accents. FAQ
What bulb does it use — is it included? (E14 vs E12)
It uses 1 × E14, a small Edison screw base, and an E14 LED bulb is included and fully replaceable, in a warm 2700–3000K. Important for US buyers: E14 is the European small screw and is not the same as the US E12 candelabra base (E14 is 14 mm, E12 is 12 mm). Buy E14 replacements — they're widely available online — and don't substitute an E12 bulb.
What is the light like?
Because the cone shade angles downward, it gives a directional warm glow toward the surface below while the alabaster catches the light and shows its veining. That makes it work as a bedside or reading accent as well as ambient wall light — softer and more directional than a bare fixture.
Can I use it in a bathroom, and how do I clean the alabaster?
Powder rooms (no shower) and dry-zone vanity mirrors are fine; full bathrooms with shower steam are not, and neither is outdoor — alabaster is porous and not damp-rated, so humidity can stain or degrade the stone. Cleaning: dust the alabaster with a dry soft cloth only — no water, vinegar, alcohol, or cleaners. Wipe the brass with a dry soft cloth and skip abrasive polish.
How is it installed, and how high should it go?
It's a hardwired wall sconce that mounts to a standard wall junction box. Licensed electrician recommended. At a vanity, mount the center about 60–66″ above the floor; beside a bed, set it at a comfortable height for the headboard, or align with nearby art and mirror heights. Indoor dry locations only.
Will my shade look exactly like the photo?
Not exactly — each cone is hand-carved from natural alabaster, so the veining pattern and color tone (including any honey-colored veins) vary piece to piece. The listing photo is representative; this variation is the character of natural stone, not a defect. For close-matched pairs, email info@docos.us.
Alabaster — Natural Stone Lighting

The light lives
in the stone.

The Craft

From a block of stone
to light in your room.

Alabaster can't be moulded or mass-pressed — it is cut. Every shade starts as solid stone and is worked by hand until it's thin enough to glow evenly. That's why no two are the same.

01

Quarried

Blocks of natural alabaster are extracted and graded for translucency and the quality of their veining before any cutting begins.

02

Cut & shaped

Each block is sliced and turned or carved to form, then hollowed so a bulb can sit behind the stone wall.

03

Hand-finished

The walls are sanded to an even thickness so light passes through without dark patches, then polished by hand.

04

Wired & assembled

Fitted with brass hardware and wired to a 120V, ETL-compliant build, then inspected before it ships.

Why Alabaster

What makes it read as something rarer.

Translucent, not opaque

Light passes through the stone itself — the lit-from-inside quality you can't get from glass or acrylic.

Veining unique to your piece

Cut from a solid block, so the cloud-like veining is its own. No two alabaster fixtures are identical.

Warm and glare-free

The stone scatters light rather than aiming it. Pair with a 2700K bulb; most fixtures dim on a compatible LED dimmer.

Made for layered rooms

A soft accent beside stronger overhead light — at home with wood, linen, and brass in modern interiors.

Lit From Within

It doesn't light the room.
It becomes the light.

Switched off, an alabaster fixture is a quiet stone object. Switched on, the whole piece glows — sculpture you happen to be able to turn on.

The Collection

A gallery of carved light.

Chandeliers, pendants, sconces, table and floor lamps — all cut from natural alabaster, most paired with brass. Dozens of pieces in all.

Find My Size

Which alabaster light
for which room.

Dining & Island

Hang a linear pendant or chandelier roughly 30–36″ above the surface. For a 6–8′ island, size the fixture or cluster to about two-thirds the counter length.

Foyer & Stairwell

Two-story spaces suit a tiered chandelier — Corbett or Miira. Keep the lowest point at least 7′ off the floor in a walkway.

Bedside & Hallway

A wall sconce — Ando, Marmo, Velora — frees the nightstand and adds the soft accent layer. Plug-in versions skip the hardwiring.

Living Room & Den

A table lamp — Marie, Pico — anchors a reading corner with warm light beside your overheads.

Questions

Alabaster lighting, answered.

Is alabaster lighting durable, or does the stone chip easily?

Alabaster is a solid, fine-grained stone with real weight — not fragile in normal use. It is softer than marble, so avoid knocks and harsh chemical cleaners. A soft, dry cloth keeps it looking right for years.

Will my alabaster fixture look exactly like the photo?

No — and that's by design. Each shade is cut from natural stone, so the veining and tone are unique to your piece. The product photo shows a representative example; yours will have its own distinct veining.

What bulb and colour temperature work best with alabaster?

Use a 2700K warm-white LED to bring out the honeyed, candle-like tone in the stone. Cooler bulbs make alabaster look gray. Most fixtures take an E26 or G9 base — check the product page — and dim with a compatible LED dimmer.

Which alabaster fixture should I choose for my room size?

Chandeliers (Corbett, Kurve, Miira) suit dining rooms and two-story foyers; pendants suit kitchen islands; sconces suit bedsides and hallways. Send us your dimensions for a free 3D preview to scale before you order.
