Is this real natural alabaster?

Yes — the dome is carved from natural alabaster, a translucent gypsum-based stone. You can tell from the visible warm-grey-tan veining and the way the dome glows from inside with non-uniform patterns when the bulbs are on (resin or composite alabaster lookalikes don’t have these naturally varied internal patterns). Each shade is unique — the exact veining, density, and warmth vary. If you need pieces that match closely (e.g., two flush mounts for a hallway), email us before ordering and we’ll hand-select.

What bulbs are included, and what should I use as replacements?

Three E26 LED bulbs (A19 form factor) are included. For replacements, use LED only, max 7–9W per bulb, 2700–3000K warm white — this matches the natural alabaster tone and keeps heat low enough to be safe for the stone. No incandescent or halogen, which run hot near alabaster. Standard A19 LED bulbs from Amazon, Home Depot, or Lowes work. Three replaceable bulbs are an advantage over integrated-LED flush mounts — when one dies in 5–10 years, you swap a $5 bulb, not the whole fixture.

Will the veining match the photo exactly?

No two pieces are identical. Natural alabaster forms over millions of years; the veining and translucence vary based on the section of stone the dome is carved from. Some pieces have dramatic visible patterns when lit, others read more uniformly cream. The listing photo is representative, not a guaranteed match. How heavy is it — what kind of ceiling support do I need?

An alabaster + solid brass fixture this size weighs more than a typical glass-and-metal flush mount — estimate roughly 8–12 lbs. Mount to a stud-backed standard ceiling junction box. Most US ceiling junction boxes are rated for 50 lbs, which is plenty — but the box itself must be securely attached to a ceiling joist or blocking, not just nailed into drywall. If you have an existing flush mount that was glass and lightweight, confirm the junction box is properly anchored before installing the Justice. Have a licensed electrician install.

Can I use it in a bathroom?

Powder room (no shower) — yes. A bathroom with good ventilation may also work for many installs, but the fixture is not damp-rated by default. Avoid bathrooms with steady shower steam, damp basements, or covered outdoor patios — persistent moisture can stain alabaster, tarnish the polished brass faster, and affect the wiring.
