Inspiration

The Tide’s Seashell Wall Sconce is a wicker shell-shape wall sconce — handwoven rattan in an open seashell silhouette cradling an opal-glass “pearl” globe diffuser, on a brass-tone backplate. The rattan diffuses warm light through the woven gaps; the opal globe sits forward like a pearl in the shell. One E26 socket. For a powder room, beach-house bathroom, coastal hallway, bedside reading sconce, vanity, or sunroom. Coastal grandma, Hamptons, tropical resort, and Mediterranean style.

Good To Know
!
1 × E26 bulb included · handwoven rattan · hardwired install · indoor dry locations only The rattan shell is handwoven over a metal frame — weave density, color tone, and rib spacing vary slightly piece to piece, which is characteristic of handwoven natural rattan, not a defect. New rattan may smell faintly grassy for a few days and lighten slightly in tone over the first months as it settles. The opal-glass globe sits forward of the shell; plan ~5″ of wall clearance from the backplate. Use the included low-heat LED bulb — rattan and an enclosed glass globe both prefer cool bulbs. Hardwires to a wall-rated junction box; have a licensed electrician install. Indoor dry locations only — suitable for a powder room (no shower) but not for a bathroom with a shower or tub, damp basement, or covered outdoor patio.
Key Features
Handwoven Rattan Shell
Two scallop-edged rattan halves form an open seashell silhouette over a metal frame — visible weave pattern, natural tan tone, lights up warmly through the woven gaps when the bulb is on.
Opal Glass “Pearl” Globe
Frosted opal-glass globe diffuser sits forward of the shell — reads like a pearl cradled inside the rattan. Even, glare-free light spread.
Brass-Tone Round Backplate
Compact brass-tone round backplate anchors the sconce to a standard wall-rated junction box. Small visual footprint — the rattan shell carries the look, the hardware stays quiet.

Use Case

The Tide’s Seashell sits as a sculptural focal point on a wall — the rattan shell takes most of the visual weight, the opal globe forward of it diffuses warm light into the room. The rattan also lights up softly through its woven gaps when the bulb is on, so the shell itself glows. Best as ambient or accent light — not a bright task light. Pair with overhead lighting if you need the room brighter.

Hang in pairs flanking a vanity mirror for a coastal bathroom look, or flanking a bed as bedside sconces in a beach-house guest room. Single fixture works as a powder room accent, an entryway statement, or a hallway light in a coastal cottage. The natural rattan and brass-tone palette pairs with white shiplap walls, raw linen, jute and sisal rugs, painted wood furniture, and warm-white paint — coastal grandma kitchens, Hamptons-style guest rooms, tropical resort-style sunrooms, and Mediterranean-villa hallways. Hardwired install — have a licensed electrician handle the connection. For custom requests or trade pricing, email info@docos.us.

FAQ
Is the shell real or is this rattan?
It’s handwoven natural rattan shaped into a seashell silhouette — the “shell” is the design, the material is rattan over a metal frame. The opal-glass globe inside reads like a pearl. So: not a real seashell, not Capiz, just hand-shaped rattan that looks like one. We named it “Seashell” for the shape, not the material.
What bulb does it take, and is it included?
The Tide’s Seashell uses 1 × E26 (medium screw base) and ships with a bulb included. Stay in the 2700–3000K warm white LED range — warm light suits the rattan and opal glass. A low-heat LED is the safer match: the bulb sits inside an enclosed opal globe and close to natural rattan, neither of which likes high heat.
Can I use it in a bathroom?
In a powder room (no shower or tub), yes — that’s a dry indoor space. Not in a full bathroom with a shower or tub — humidity will weaken the rattan weave, mottle the natural fiber, and discolor the brass-tone finish. Same goes for damp basements and covered outdoor patios.
Will the rattan warp or fade over time?
Natural rattan in an indoor dry location holds its shape for years. The tone may lighten slightly in the first few months as the fiber settles and then remain stable. Keep out of direct sunlight to slow any color change. The opal globe and brass-tone hardware are stable indefinitely. Don’t hang in a damp room — that’s the main thing that warps rattan.
Can I install it myself or do I need an electrician?
It’s a hardwired wall sconce connecting to a wall-rated junction box. We recommend a licensed electrician for a safe, code-compliant install. The rattan shell needs careful handling during mounting so the woven edges aren’t crushed. If you need a plug-in version instead, email info@docos.us to ask about availability before ordering.
